Ivan Nova (vs. SD) | 21.6% Owned

Nova had a really good season going until his last three outings. In his first six starts, Nova posted a 3.32 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 7.11 K/9 and 7.5 K/BB ratio in 38.0 innings. Since, he has posted a 10.41 ERA, 2.40 WHIP, 6.69 K/9 and 2.25 K/BB ratio in just 12.1 innings.

Despite a few rough outings, Nova remains in the top-50 in xFIP (3.84),  ninth in BB/9 (1.43)and 30th in ground-ball% (47.6%). Overall, he’s been really solid, but has been hurt by a .321 BABIP, which is the 11th highest among qualified starters. Some better luck on balls-in-play will go a long way to help improve Nova’s numbers.

He draws a great matchup tonight with the Padres in town. San Diego ranks 26th in the MLB in wRC+ (86), 29th in OPS (.665) and have the second highest strikeout rate (26.5%). PNC Park has been the 13th most pitcher-friendly park throughout 2018.

Free Agent Adds

C.J. Cron (1B/DH) — Rays — 49.6% Owned

I wrote about Cron a few weeks ago and he is still swinging a hot-bat today. Despite raking all year, the first baseman’s owned percentage really hasn’t risen all that much. In his last nine games, Cron has gone 17-for-43 (.395) with 10 runs scored, four home runs, seven RBIs and one stolen base. He has easily been one of the best first basemen in baseball this season and should be owned in all formats.

Brandon Crawford (SS) — Giants — 23.6% Owned

Over the last two weeks, no player in the majors has more hits than Crawford. Since the calendar flipped to May, Crawford has slashed .443/.455/.607 with nine runs, one home run, 12 RBIs and one stolen base. He might not have the same counting stats as a shortstop like Francisco Lindor, but is getting on-base as frequently. As a No.2 shortstop on your roster, Crawford makes for a great addition.
